Description

Fan concept for The Isle.  This is my take on what the tisso quetz could possibly look like.

Field Notes :

This strange beast is more adept at navigating dense forest than other large pterosaurs.  The specimen can nose dive like a falcon or sprint like a roadrunner.  Its zygodactyl feet allow it to hold onto trees as well as prey, however it prefers to attack with what appears to be acidic vomit.  The vomit comes from a bizarre hole in the tongue, not the esophagus.  Further study is required, but I suspect that it possesses a separate organ to store the acid.  Apart from injuring its prey, the acid seems to slow down their ability to run and may function in easing the feeding process.  Unlike the Hyperendocrin Quetzalcoatlus specimens, this creature has a brittle beak.  I suspect the acid dissolves the outer layer of the hide and allows access to the softer insides.  The beak is serrated but lacks true tooth structures.  I have observed it tracking prey while in the trees, no doubt with its large eyes and snake-like tongue.
